This is my front cover.

I feel this worked the best out of the pictures I took and people I asked said this worked well and looked "cool".

However I did not use the mid close up shot as the pictures I took at this distance did not feel right for my magazine.
I used these two on the front cover because they're the stars of the musical, theres a subheading for it on and inside there would probably be an interview and such things with them.
For my music magazine I will upload a video of peoples opinions on it, however at the moment I do not have enough time to do this.

This is my contents page, I made it in photoshop as indesign wouldn't work and blogger would not upload the orginail design. Although I feel this one is better then my orginail idea, as it is more colourful and easier to read. However the colour of the text I have chosen is hard to read, so I will need to choose a better colour next when making the music magazine. I chose the green as its a very neatural colour and very homely, a contrast to the front cover which is quite fun and rough. Also I'd include pictures in the contents of my music magazine as I feel I didn't take any appropriote photos this time, which means for the music magazine I should take more photos.

Contents page tester

I used InDesign to test out our contents page on, I did a rough copy and will upload later as its not working at the moment. I learnt the differences between photoshop and Indesign, the main one was that photoshop is mainly to change and edit photos, where as InDesign was made to make things such as contents pages. I felt InDesign was harder to use then photoshop. I did learn how to do a few basics on how to make a contents page however, Like how to add collumns in. InDesign was rather difficult to use as we had to but things in collumns and use texts boxes in certain areas. I couldn't add pictures to the contents page as the computer wouldn't let me, so when i make my music magazine page I shall learnt to use the design in more depth.

Experiments on photoshop

We spent a few lessons getting used to photoshop and making possible front covers for our school magazine. Here is a couple i produced. I feel they both give the feeling of unity and friendship, the feeling of the college. The first one however i used a picture from the internet as i hadn't taken any photos at that point, but the second one i used a photo someone took of myself and a friend.
i deleted the background using the magic wand and the rubber, i felt this focused us to the image more and gave an edge to the photo, contrasting the name excel maybe?
i asked a few people in my class and they all thought the second one was "cool" so its a possibility of being the cover of my school magazine.

We came up with the idea of calling our magazine Excel, this name gives the impression of success and achievement. It gives the idea that the student who may go here would excel in exams and future life.

Our ideas are to make a magazine to show the success of the school. The students will produce it for other students. It will include things such as trips, sports, performances and competitions. We shall make it inviting for students by taking photos of happy, inviting students and competions to make them feel involved.

Our values are to show the schools success.

Our masthead design we will produce on photoshop as at the moment it is only on paper, but it will be very similar to the original.

We have decided to to 8 pages, and do lots of short stories on each page. We shall organise it to look fun and inviting by not having it as half as page each or something along those lines, we'll set it out like lots of little stories with photos on each page.

Our contents list shall be:
2- Latest performance review
3- Latest social, trip to spain, skiing last year
4 to 5- School teachers quiz (win £50), crossword, suduko, wordsearch, spot the difference.
6 to 7- Art by students, including textiles, woodwork and graphics, as well as fine art.
8- sports, football team, basket ball team, cricket team etc etc

We haven't taken any photos yet, but we are just about to go off and take some. Shall add them later on.
